MIM-Kyiv EMBA participants have started their international study tour to Hong Kong. For the second time MIM’s EMBAs are trying to unravel the secret of one of the new superpowers in the world.
Prof. Godwin Wong, professor of Haas School of Business (Berkeley University of California, USA) and MIM-Kyiv’s long-term partner delivered his presentations “China as a Superpower in the World” & “Hong Kong Vs. China”. The presentations were focused at the current economic situation in China. In spite of global economic crisis China’s economy is growing and its GDP was the third in the world in 2009. Moreover, the country is largest global creditor and within the 1st quarter of 2010 it attracted USS 30 billion direct investments. Hong Kong, a country with the freest economy according to Cato Institute (the USA) is rather different from the mainland China. Services generate 92% of Hong Kong economy vs. 40% in China; it does not have export/import duties, and real estate, inheritance, etc. taxes. No wonder it became the hometown for many of the multinational headquarters.
Feng Shui has always been at heart of Hong Kong life. “The Art of Feng Shui, and the Prosperity of Hong Kong” presentation by Raymond LO, Feng Shui Master provided an important insight into cultural aspects of doing business in/with China and Hong Kong.
Mr. Jack Flader, CEO and founder of the General Consultant Services Limited delivered his presentation “Worldwide Legal Entities of Corporate Arrangements: Focus on Hong Kong and China”. He talked about opening business in Hong Kong and doing business off shore.
The classes were followed by the special cultural activities which is inseparable from doing business in China –special dinner at Aberdeen Floating Boat and a tour of Victoria Peak, Lan Kwai Fong.←
