June 8, 2010

June 2 was a big day of high finance. It started with the visit to Government “InvestHongKong” hosted by Mr. Simon Galpin its Executive Director. “InvestHK” is the department for foreign direct investment, under the policy purview of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, responsible for attracting and facilitating inward investment into the city. As investment competition in the Pacific interim is getting tougher “InvestHongKong” supports overseas, Mainland and Taiwanese companies to set up and expand in Hong Kong. The organization partners with clients on a long term basis and is available to help at any stage of business development process. As the result, in 2009 265 companies were established in Hong Kong assisted by “InvestHongKong”.

Visit to Deloitte was hosted by the Company’s partners leaded by managing director. Together with MIM population they discussed how to manage accounting and taxation issues in China, why start a business in Hong Kong when planning to enter the Chinese market and how to do IPO at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. After that the group visited Hong Kong Stock Exchange and watched how securities are traded on the floor.

The same day MIM group participated in the traditional Chinese dinner which itself was a great cross cultural practical lesson.
