Dr. Serhiy Golov Talks about Future of Professional Financier

On February 19 Dr. Golov, Head of Accounting Chair talked to the “Financier of the Future or a Future of a Financier” conference participants. In his presentation he covered issues of both professional training and new challenges a post industrial finance pro faces.

When commenting upon the discussion, Dr. Golov mentioned “First you need to master accounting concepts and then to move to finance management. But in post industrial economy intangible assets are the most valuable ones. And you have to manage much more than finance. Finance is just a reflection. And the question is: are we talking about managing finance or are we talking about managing much wider range strategic of issues? A financier has a future only if he/she is able to manage both financial and intellectual capital. Organization’s intellectual capital is a key to the today’s success. And we are still just calculating ratios without thinking of the other success factors”.

Talking about financiers’ professional training Dr. Golov worded the main trend: “Yesterday smart people were after money. Now money is after smart people”.
