History

The International Management Institute (MIM-Kyiv) was established in 1989 at the initiative of Bohdan D. Hawrylyshyn, a prominent scientist, philosopher and public figure.It was a joint venture of the International Management Institute, Genera (later IMD) Switzerland, one of the best business schools in Europe, and the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It was the first business school in CIS countries and it started in Kyiv! Since then “the first” has been steadily attributed to MIM Kyiv, to its story of success.

To be the first always implies responsibility. To determine and establish new trends and standards is the rule for MIM-Kyiv.

MIM-Kyiv is the first Ukrainian business school that:

1990

  • starts MBA program with overseas internship 29 students obtained MBA degree.

1993

  • introduces consulting projects into the MBA curriculum.

1995

  • employs computer simulations for implementation of company’s strategies developed by leading international business schools in MBA programs.

1996

  • obtains accreditation and license from the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

1997

  • becomes an institutional member of efmd and CEEMAN (Central and East European Management Development Association).

1998

  • passes a Strategic Audit of efmd (European Foundation for Management Development).

2000

  • launches two-year Modular Executive MBA Programs.
  • launches corporate MBA program.

2001

  • offers PMD programs.

2002

  • establishes the International Centre of Innovative Teaching Technologies in collaboration with CMU, the USA.
  • is granted III level of accreditation by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

2005

  • completes construction of Institute’s own state-of-the art building.
  • together with UMC company develops a project “Ukrainian Mobile Knowledge Bank” — the online electronic system of basic knowledge in management, marketing, accounting and finance.
  • organizes 13th  annual international CEEMAN conference (held in Ukraine for the first time).
  • obtains license from the Ministry of Education of Ukraine for providing education services in line with qualification standards for Master of Business Administration degree.

2006

  • becomes a centre for developing and disseminating competitiveness strategies.
  • establishes the Centre for Competitiveness Strategies, later the research and development centre “Technologies for economic breakthrough”.

2004

  • launches Senior Executive MBA for top executives.
  • receives unconditional international accreditation IQA, CEEMAN.
